Sylvie Njobati

Sylvie is an award-winning Pan-Africanist, Activist, Artist and Feminist whose work is currently focusing on decolonization and the Restitution of Africa’s looted heritage as a contribution to Africa’s renaissance. As a multimedia artist (Videographer, Photographer and producer) she uses her talents and skills to enhance her activism while supporting institutions to visualise so as to humanise issues of global concern, putting people at the heart of the change we want.  She has led one of the world’s biggest and successful restitution campaigns for the restitution of Ngonnso which has become a global footprint and best practice case study for the ongoing restitution conversation. She is the founder of Sysy House of Fame, an org promoting Art and Culture.  Sylvie has also served as Multimedia Producer for UN Agencies such as WHO African Regional Office for Africa, and WFP HQ, supporting several advocacies, campaigns, emergencies and events.

Finally, after decades of fighting by African diaspora and Black German civil society, former Petersallee in Berlin is renamed Maji-Maji-Allee! Now not longer honouring colonial criminals but anti-colonial resistance. Today, Mnyaka Sururu Mboro inaugurated the new street sign.

The compromises you make for humanity can take a toll on you.

For the past 6 months starting January, the threats, insults and blackmail heightened because of my activism. I tried to take a break, but ended up restrategising. Not giving up at all.
